Bruises From Your Bad Dreams EP Out Feb 15

On Tuesday February 15th Jarrod Gorbel will release the Bruises From Your Bad Dreams EP. The EP was written and recorded after returning home to Brooklyn in late November from several months of touring. He was met with blizzard after blizzard forcing him to stay indoors. He set up shop with Jack Dishel (Only Son, Moldy Peaches). Included on the EP is the duet with the amazing Nicole Atkins titled “Miserable Without You”. Jarrod met Nicole when filming the Devil’s Made A New Friend Video Series (see Devilish Ways Session).
Also included on the EP is the new live fan favorite “Desperate Hands”, a new song “Mother/Father”, and a stripped down version of “I’ll Do Better”. We added the previously only available via Itunes exclusive “Snow Cruncher” to round out the bunch.

The EP will be available digitally on Feb 15 via Itunes, Emusic, Amazon, Rhapsody, and wherever else you get your music online. And it will also be available at shows.

In the meantime, download “Miserable Without You (feat. Nicole Atkins)” below and share with the widget with friends.

Posted: January 5th, 2011 | Author: Jarrod | 16 Comments »

“I’m about to embark on a solo tour and I always get bombarded with The Honorary Title requests. I hardly have enough solo material to fill a full set quite yet so can you guys please help me create the ideal set list? Which oldies do you wanna here the most” – Jarrod

Happy New Year! We have posted all of the tourdates for January and February on the SHOWS page. Get your tickets early!

Ladies and Gentleman, Its time to vote on the 5 Honorary Title songs you want to hear on Jarrod’s upcoming headline tour. You can choose ANY 5 songs from the Honorary Title catalog. We will tally the votes and the 5 songs with the most votes will make their way into the setlist. These songs will most likely change from city to city as votes are counted for each city only. This is how you participate

Send an email to: JarrodGorbelSetlist@gmail.com
Subject: Include the City/Venue/Date SETLIST VOTE
Body: List your 5 songs

All votes must be in by Jan 20.

Easy as that. And if you rally your friends together you might be able to determine the 5 songs on your own. Good Luck! See you on the road.

Tour Blog From Jarrod

This fall I began touring in support of my new record ‘devils made a new friend’. The first segment of which
began in late September with my old friends in Steel Train and Fun. I met Nate of ‘fun’ back in 2004 when ‘The Honorary Title’ and ‘the format’(nates old band) both opened for Switchfoot on a two month run. At the same time I was introduced to the guys in Steel Train. The Format/the Honorary title/Steel Train all toured together again in 2007. Having known these guys for so long of course made for a cozy/comfy tour and a stress free environment. I brought a new friend/ musician along for the trip this time. Dre(Andrea Babinski), I was introduced to Dre through Blake Sennett while recording ‘devils made a new friend’. She played all the strings on ‘i’ll do better’ and ‘weight’ as well as singing some harmonies. Dre has been amazing for the tour covering all the female vocal lines on the record as well as playing violin on old and new songs (both solo and THT faves)
Highlights of the fungorbtrain tour:
Started in Vermont then back through Brooklyn -the first two shows are always the most nerve racking but I think after we got through those everything started to sail smoothly. Not my best performance in Vermont but the venue had these delicious macaroon style cocconut balls, those along with these other desert chocolate date/nut balls that jack’s parents brought. I overdosed on desert balls. theres only so many balls you can handle before a show, i exceeded the limit! ha!
Super exceptional crowd in Pittsburgh. Philly at the world cafe was good times. Cleveland- the grog shop, with a chipotle right next door you cant go wrong. Columbus Oh was nice, we got to watch ‘band of horses’ in the bigger venue next door, and Oxford OH was an insane college party from hell but in a good way. Heading further into the midwest , the intersection in Grand Rapids love that venue, though i was asked officialy the worst question i have ever been asked in an interview: “fuck?kill? or marry? the subject being Pete Wentz….i didnt answer the question. St.louis MO always good crowds there. Chicago house of blues was awesome except for the drunken wandering beast who was urinating outside our dressing room in the corner of the balcony area. Luckily he was kicked out. Made for some mild entertainment though. Kansas at the bottleneck was a real fun show. I got a super professional massage before the show. But the one thing i despise the most is the lotion they put on your back. Later that night i woke in the hotel scratching my back like a madman and inspecting the bedding like a paranoid crack fiend in search of bedbugs. I then realized it was the massage lotion from earlier. so i stood in the shower under scolding hot water for a half hour until that itchy slime melted off me. Boulder CO was great, beautiful state, Utah good times.
Other high point of tour was that Justin from Steel Train would join me and Dre every night on keys for ‘ten years older’ and ‘each breath’, also we had Nate H. from FUN playing bass on ‘each breath’ as well as Jon from Steel Train and Justin as well. I also had the pleasure of singing back ups on Steel Train’s ‘Killl monsters in the rain’.
I wanted to thank everyone for coming out to the shows thus far! All my friends who have been with me through all the variations of ‘the honorary title’ and all the new people who had no idea i was going solo. I want to thank fun/steel train for introducing me to a slew of new people and for helping inform some old friends of what im up to now. All the shows have been awesome and i will be blogging more soon with more details. I have also recently began another tour. I will give more details about how this happened and how those shows are going soon. Check out my new video for ‘10 years older’ im very proud of it.
See you on the road

New Official “Ten Years Older” Video

Posted: November 2nd, 2010 | Author: Jarrod | No Comments »

Yesterday AOL Music Premiered the brand new video for “Ten Years Older”. The video was directed by Blake Behnam and Nic Hill and was shot in Los Angeles. In Jarrod’s words “It’s about the passing of time, the sudden realization and reflection on your past. It’s also based off a lot of people close to me and their downward spiral. The directors had done other music videos and documentary work that I liked. And we all came to the table with some ideas of what we wanted this video to portray. After a bit of back and forth, we decided to juxtapose the free lives of the young with the constrained dark lives of the old and marry them somehow. It became a depiction of the old not giving in, not throwing in the towel and re-embracing life. We wanted this video to evoke a feeling while hearing the song more than tell a specific narrative

Devil’s Made A New Friend Out TODAY!

A Note From Jarrod:

“Finally the day has come Devil’s Made A New Friend is available for people to enjoy. So thankful for all you guys/gals who are sticking with me in this transition from The Honorary Title to solo style. The video series seemed like an ideal way to introduce everyone to the songs in a live random setting and pave the path for the release day. Looking forward to saying hello to old friends as well as meeting new ones on tour this fall. Fun/steeltrain are all old touring friends and hanson are new friends. i had the privelage of writing songs with Taylor H. a few months back and then i was invited out on tour, couldnt refuse. I hope to film some more videos this fall both serious music stuff as well as strange family impersonations. Jarrod Gorbel merch is currently flooding my apartment, eager to throw it in the van and get going, that is until im in the middle of a 10 hour drive and losing my sanity, all worth it in the end. Also I plan on doing many instores this fall as well as some of my own headlining shows so please look out for those. ummmmmmm ok, thanks again and i hope you like the new record
love
jarrod”
